The Story
This is Alice Aycock's Hoop-La, it sits at Capital One's Headquarters in Tysons, VA. She made it from fabricated stainless steel around 2018. The large white sculpture references wind and weather patterns as it speaks metaphorically to the unpredictable way ideas connect during knowledge formation. In another sense, the sculpture is playful and whimsical. It is an homage to a traditional fairground game whereby one or several players stand an equal distance and try to toss hoops onto pegs.
